Council Proceedings March 24, 2025
The Hospers City Council met in regular session on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 5:45 PM at the Hospers City Hall with Mayor Dykstra presiding. Council members present: Kooistra, Otto, Thompson, Schipper, Jager. Council members absent: none. The City Clerk was also present.
Motion by Otto, seconded Thompson to approve the March 24, 2025 Agenda. All ayes, motion carried.
Open forum at 5:46 PM. No oral or written comments received.
Heath Draeger and Jacob Evans from People Service were present. Discussed their monthly report and maintenance updates that will need to take place. Motion by Thompson, seconded Jager to approve the purchase of a new weather sampler for the wastewater plant and have a sonar taken of the sludge ponds. All ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Kooistra, seconded Thompson to approve the payment of unpaid bills. All ayes, motion carried.

Motion by Jager, seconded Schipper to set the public hearing date for the FY2026 Budget Adoption for Monday, April 21, 2025 at 5:30 pm at the Hospers City Hall. All ayes, motion carried.
Reviewed quotes received for street milling and the street budget for FY2025 and FY2026. No action was taken.
Reviewed Rod Vander Veen’s building permit. Motion by Kooistra, seconded Thompson to approve said permit. All ayes, motion carried.
Reviewed Gary Gesink’s building permit. Motion by Schipper, seconded Otto to approve said permit. All ayes, motion carried.
Reviewed the Cyber Liability Insurance quote from ICAP. Motion by Thompson, seconded Otto to approve increasing the policy to a 1,000,000-liability limit. All ayes, motion carried.
Discussed the updates to the sand volleyball court and addition of a second court. Motion by Jager, seconded Otto to approve the addition of a second volleyball court to the South Side Park. All ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Jager, seconded Schipper to approve the March 24, 2025 Public Hearing Meeting Minutes. All ayes, motion carried.
