Council Proceedings April 20, 2015

The Hospers City Council met in regular session on April 20, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. with Mayor Rouse presiding.  Council members present:  Hulst, Solsma, and Hamblin.

Chief Deputy Nate Huizenga from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was present to discuss the law enforcement contract for the upcoming fiscal year.  Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Hamblin to accept the FY16 law enforcement contract.  Motion carried all ayes.

Rich Welter of Mosquito Control of Iowa present to discuss mosquito control for 2015 season.  Motion made by Solsma, seconded by Hulst to accept the $3,170 bid for the 2015 season.  Motion carried all ayes.

Jodi Schwake of PeopleService present.  Discussion regarding flushing of the hydrants and some sewers thus far.  There is one fire hydrant that does not work at all.  Councilmen Hamblin suggested that this get replaced ASAP.

Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Hamblin to approve the Minutes of the April 6, 2015, meeting.  Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Solsma to approve the payment of unpaid bills, excluding the Ahlers & Cooney invoice.  Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Solsma to approve the building permit of the Hospers Land Development Corporation.  Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Solsma to approve the building permit of Michael Toering.  Motion carried all ayes.

The horseshoe pit was discussed.  There will be some remodeling done to same.  Tyler will begin working on this process.

Motion made by Hamblin, seconded by Hulst to adjourn at 7:40 p.m.  Motion carried all ayes.
