Council Proceedings April 6, 2015

The Hospers City Council met in regular session on April 6, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Rouse presiding.  Council members present:  Hulst, Schulz, Hamblin, and Whitmore.  John Solsma was absent.

Mayor Rouse opened the bidding process for the 2015 Lagoon Access Road Culvert Repair project at 7:02 p.m.  Three bids were received and opened.  Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Hamblin to award the 2015 Lagoon Access Road Culvert Repair project to the lowest bidder, Solsma Bros Inc.  Motion carried all ayes.  Bidding closed at 7:10 p.m.

Motion made by Hamblin, seconded by Schulz to approve the Minutes of the March 16, 2015, meeting.  Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Whitmore to approve the payment of unpaid bills, excluding the Danko Emergency Equipment invoice.  Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Whitmore, seconded by Schulz to approve the March Clerk’s Report and Income Statement.  Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Schulz, seconded by Whitmore to accept the new bid from Signature Builders for the steel resurfacing of the City shed located behind the Wellness Center.  Motion carried all ayes.

Discussion regarding the band shell and what type of coating to put on the surface.  Ben Hamblin will be looking into this and reporting back to the City Council.

Mandy Boersma and Marilyn Straub present to discuss a community daycare.  Council agreed to let the committee use the City Clerk’s email addresses and email to send out a survey on their behalf in an attempt to gather the community’s input in this regard.

The horseshoe pit was discussed and some renovations to same.  This matter has been tabled until the next meeting.
