Council Proceedings April 7, 2014
The Hospers City Council met in regular session on April 7, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Rouse presiding. Council members present: Hamblin, Solsma, Schulz and Hulst.
Motion made by Hamblin, seconded by Solsma to approve the Minutes of the March 17, 2014, meeting. Motion carried all ayes.
Motion made by Schulz, seconded by Hulst to approve the payment of unpaid bills. Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Hamblin, seconded by Schulz to approve the March Clerk’s Report and Income Statement. Motion carried all ayes.
The renewal of the Sioux County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Contract was reviewed and discussed. Contract will be held at this time and this matter will be tabled until the April 21, 2014, meeting.
Discussion regarding where water leaks were fixed in town. Need to have Tyler fill in holes with more sand and pack down.
Motion made Schulz, seconded by Solsma to approve the building permit of Kelly Kooistra. Motion carried all ayes.
Motion made by Schulz, seconded by Hamblin to approve the building permit of James Bierman. Motion carried all ayes.
Discussion regarding the tree/leaf dump. Council discussed maybe asking some farmers if they are interested in hauling away some leaves for their fields. Solsma will go to the tree/leaf dump, in the meantime, with his dozer to try to clean it up.
Discussion regarding Memorial Park statutes and repainting and fixing of same. City Clerk will contact Jake Van Wijk to see if he can work on that for the City.
Discussion regarding the purchase of a used Case IH disc mower to help with the mowing of the weeds out by the lagoons. City will try to purchase same for $2,500. Hulst will report at April 21, 2014, meeting.
Motion made Schulz, seconded by Hulst to adjourn at 8:20 p.m. Motion carried all ayes.
