Council Proceedings June 2, 2014

The Hospers City Council met in regular session on June 2, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Rouse presiding.  Council members present:  Whitmore, Hamblin, Solsma, Schulz and Hulst.

Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Schulz to approve the Minutes of the May 19, 2014, meeting.  Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Schulz, seconded by Whitmore to approve the payment of unpaid bills.  Motion carried all ayes.

Discussion regarding the Sioux County Law Enforcement Contract.  This matter will be tabled.

Review of sample lawn mowing Ordinances from surrounding cities.  City of Hospers will proceed with putting together an Ordinance regarding nuisances such as lawn mowing, weeds, etc.

New signs will be ordered labeled “NO TRUCKS” and will be put on Cedar Street to keep trucks from entering that roadway and have them proceed onto Birch Street instead.

Discussion regarding storm sirens.  This matter will be tabled.

City Clerk will touch base with Mosquito Control and see when they plan to begin spraying.

Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Hamblin to approve the estimate of Jake Van Wyk to repair and paint the statues in the middle of Main Street and Memorial Park.  Motion carried all ayes.

“No Parking Anytime” signs will be ordered for the swimming pool to be put on the East side of the guardhouse to keep visitors to the pool from parking on the grass.

The FEMA matter was discussed.  John Solsma will proceed with visiting with Wayne Schlotfeldt to put the culverts project at the lagoons out for bid.

Motion made by Schulz, seconded by Hulst to adjourn at 8:10 p.m.  Motion carried all ayes.
