Council Proceedings May 19, 2014
The Hospers City Council met in regular session on May 19, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. with Mayor Rouse presiding. Council members present: Whitmore, Solsma, Schulz and Hulst.
City Maintenance, Tyler Evenhuis, present. Discussion was held regarding the swimming pool, purchasing a weed eater, lawns in town that need to be mowed, and the lagoons.
Scott of Premium Iowa Pork was present to discuss the Master Agreement for Development between the City of Hospers and Premium Iowa Pork and specifically, Exhibit F. Premium Iowa Pork will be changing their financial provider, so this will change Exhibit F.
City Council reviewed the 2013 Management Plan regarding the trees prepared by Joseph Schwartz of the DNR. City Clerk was told to send letters to those addresses listed on page 9 of the report advising them that their trees need to be taken down.
Motion made by Whitmore, seconded by Solsma to approve the Minutes of the May 5, 2014, meeting. Motion carried all ayes.
Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Whitmore to approve the payment of unpaid bills. Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Schulz, seconded by Whitmore to approve the April Clerk’s Report and Income Statement. Motion carried all ayes.
Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Schulz to approve the first reading on the Ordinance amending the water rates. Motion carried all ayes. Motion made by Schulz, seconded by Solsma to waive/suspend the second and third reading requirements of this Ordinance. Motion carried all ayes. This Ordinance will become effective June 1, 2014.
Discussion regarding storm sirens, street resurfacing and the parking lot at Kelly’s Drive Inn.
Motion made by Schulz, seconded by Hulst to approve the building permit of Chad De Vries. Motion carried all ayes.
