Council Proceedings November 3, 2014
The Hospers City Council met in regular session on November 3, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Pro Tem Solsma presiding. Council members present: Hulst, Schulz, Solsma, Hamblin and Whitmore.
Scott Johnson of Premium Iowa Pork and Michael Washburn of McClure Engineering were present to discuss the wastewater facility and the proposed changes, once again, to better accommodate the capacity of Premium Iowa Pork. The next step will be the publishing of the Public Notice re: Antidegradation Alternatives Analysis for the City of Hospers, IA. City Clerk will proceed with being in touch with the Siouxland Press to get this Notice published.
Motion made by Whitmore, seconded by Hulst to approve the Minutes of the October 20, 2014, meeting. Motion carried all ayes.
Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Schulz to approve the payment of unpaid bills. Motion carried all ayes.

Motion made by Hamblin, seconded by Hulst to approve Ordinance No. 599 in regards to animal control and protection and vicious dog. Motion carried all ayes. Motion made by Hamblin, seconded by Hulst to suspend the requirement to the 2nd and 3rd readings in regard to this Ordinance. Motion carried all ayes.
Discussion was held regarding improvements that need to be made at the shelter house. The City Council told the City Clerk to make a reminder for March of 2015 to discuss this matter and make a list of what needs to be done at the shelter house before it opens in April of 2015.
Discussion regarding a payloader.
The City Council discussed the Quasquicentennial for the City of Hospers which will be in 2016. Darren Hulst suggested putting an ad in the paper to see if we can start lining up committees for this event. City Clerk will be in touch with the Siouxland Press.
Discussion regarding purchasing Sensaphone alarms for the Museum. Darren Hulst will be in touch with Ten-Kredit Electric in Sioux Center to get some pricing for these alarms. He will report back at the next meeting with pricing.
Motion made by Hulst, seconded by Schulz to purchase a new locater in the amount of $3,100 from Municipal Management Corp. Motion carried all ayes.
