Council Proceedings May 16, 2022

The Hospers City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 16 2022, 5:30 PM at the Hospers City Hall with Mayor Dykstra presiding. Council members present: Zevenbergen, Otto, Kramer and Vander Wilt. City Clerk was also present.

Motion by Vander Wilt, seconded Kramer to approve the May 16, 2022 Agenda with addition of Discussion on Pool’s Bath House. Carried.

Motion by Zevenbergen, seconded Otto to approve the payment of unpaid bills. Carried.

Motion by Zevenbergen, seconded Otto to approve April month end report. Carried.

Open forum 5:36 PM – Dana Klein, City of Hospers resident, discussed the April 22nd incident with her dog. Open forum closed at 5:59 PM with no further comments.

Discussed Animal Control & Protection Ordinance. Will look into amending the ordinance in the future.

Overview and review of the 2021-2022 Budget Amendment. Motion by Vander Wilt, seconded Zevenbergen to approve said Amendment and set public hearing regarding the same for the June 6, 2022 Council meeting at 7:00 PM. Carried.

Discussed the Community Development Block Grant survey that was distributed to town residents and will be hand collected by council members on May 23rd and 24th.

Reviewed lifeguard pay rates for the 2022 season. No further action needed.

Discussion regarding the water heaters at the pool needing to be replaced due to poor condition. Motion by Zevenbergen, seconded Vander Wilt to replace the two water heaters with one larger capacity water heater. Carried.

Discussion regarding pool office refrigerator needing to be replaced due to age and poor condition. Motion by Kramer, Vander Wilt seconded to purchase new refrigerator. Carried

Motion by Zevenbergen, seconded Vander Wilt to approve the May 16, 2022 meeting Minutes. Carried.

Motion by Vander Wilt, seconded Kramer to adjourn at 6:24 PM. Carried.
