Council Proceedings March 7, 2022

The Hospers City Council met in regular session on Monday, March 7, 2022, at 7:00 PM with Mayor Dykstra presiding. Council members present: Zevenbergen, Thompson, Otto. City Clerk also present.

Motion by Zevenbergen, seconded Otto to approve the March 7, 2022, Agenda. Carried.

Motion by Otto, seconded Zevenbergen to approve the payment of unpaid bills. Carried.

Public Hearing regarding proposed property tax levy was opened at 7:02 PM. No oral or written comments submitted.

Brenda Klaassen, Hospers Librarian, presented issue with library drop box. Council agreed to put in temporary parking curb until weather allows for permanent fix.

Motion by Thompson, seconded Zevenbergen to close the Public Hearing at 7:15 PM. Carried.

Motion by Otto, seconded Zevenbergen to approve Resolution 2022-03-07 approving the FY 2022/23 Maximum Property Tax Dollars. Roll call vote taken: Zevenbergen aye, Otto aye, Thompson aye.

Motion by Otto, seconded Zevenbergen to approve the FY 2022/23 Budget public hearing date of March 21, 2022 at 5:30 PM. Carried.

Open forum at 7:17 PM – no oral or written comments submitted.

Discussion regarding lifeguard pay rates. Motion by Zevenbergen, seconded Otto to change starting lifeguard rate to $9.00/hour, increased by $0.25 each season for every year of service. During season rate increase of $0.25 for every 100 hours worked. Carried.

Discussion regarding ordinance pertaining to non-auto vehicles permits. Ordinance to remain unchanged.

Discussion regarding pool visit rates for public with no changes made.

Discussion regarding campground rates. Motion by Otto, seconded Zevenbergen to increase daily rate to $20.00, weekly rate to $120.00 and monthly rate to $415.00. Carried.

Discussion regarding future transfers to and from accounts based on findings from state audit.

Motion by Zevenbergen, seconded Otto to approve the March 7, 2022, meeting Minutes. Carried.

Motion by Thompson, seconded Zevenbergen to adjourn at 7:47 PM. Carried.
