Council Proceedings May 2, 2022

The Hospers City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 2 2022, 7:00 PM at the Hospers City Hall with Mayor Dykstra presiding. Council members present: Zevenbergen, Otto, Thompson, Kramer and Vander Wilt. The City Clerk was also present.

Motion by Vander Wilt, seconded Kramer to approve the May 2, 2022 Agenda. Carried.

Motion by Thompson, seconded Zevenbergen to approve the payment of unpaid bills. Carried.

Reviewed and discussed the preliminary consideration of the proposed new floodplain management ordinance from the Iowa DNR. Motion by Thompson, seconded Otto to proceed with updating the ordinance by including the City’s appropriate local information. Carried.

Open forum 7:10 PM – no oral or written comments submitted.

Discussed 2nd Ave S Street Project funding.

Discussed downtown buildings with exterior deterioration. Property owners will be notified accordingly.

Discussed automatic pool cleaner. Motion by Otto, seconded Kramer to purchase new automatic cleaner for $3,600.00 prior to the upcoming season. Carried.

Discussion regarding summer sand volleyball league. Council is okay with a league using city facilities.

Discussion regarding Slow-pitch Softball Church League, coordinator is still needed for the league. City Clerk will advertise for coordinator of the league.

Motion by Vander Wilt, seconded Zevenbergen to approve the May 2, 2022 meeting Minutes. Carried.

Motion by Kramer, seconded Vander Wilt to adjourn at 8:03 PM. Carried.
