Council Proceedings February 6, 2023

The Hospers City Council met in regular session on Monday, February 6, 2023, 7:00 PM at the Hospers City Hall with Mayor Dykstra presiding. Council members present: Otto, Thompson, Kramer, and Vander Wilt. Council members absent: Zevenbergen. The City Clerk was also present.

Motion by Vander Wilt, seconded Kramer to approve the February 6, 2023 Agenda. Carried.

Motion by Thompson, seconded Vander Wilt to approve the payment of unpaid bills. Carried.

Public Hearing regarding the proposed property tax levy was opened at 7:05PM. Hospers residents, Dave & Christine Koerselman, present to ask questions regarding the Maximum Property Tax Dollars Notice.

Motion by Kramer, seconded Vander Wilt to approve Resolution 2023-2024 approving the FY 2023/24 Maximum Property Tax Dollars. Roll call vote taken: Otto aye, Thompson aye, Kramer aye, Vander Wilt aye. Resolution passed. Zevenbergen was absent from voting.

Motion by Otto, seconded Kramer to close the Public Hearing at 7:30 PM. Carried.

Motion by Thompson, seconded Vander Wilt to approve the FY 2023/24 Budget public hearing date of March 6, 2023 at 7:00 PM. Carried.

Open Forum at 7:43 PM. No oral or written comments submitted.

Discussion regarding the 2nd Ave South Project. Bids are not able to be opened until after the Community Development Block Grant funds are received which is around February 15th.

Discussion regarding City personnel issues.

Motion by Thompson, seconded Vander Wilt to approve the February 6, 2023 meeting Minutes. Carried.

Motion by Vander Wilt, seconded Kramer to adjourn at 8:08 PM. Carried.
